Mikhail Polyakov
1969, Dzerzhinsk and Nizhny Novgorod
Mikhail Polyakov was born in 1969 in the city of Dzerzhinsk. Both his grandfather and uncle were artists, and he followed in their footsteps, graduating first from the art department of the Vladimir State Pedagogical Institute, and in 1995 from the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
He works in the genres of portrait, urban landscape and avant-garde painting. The so-called Vladimir school of painting, with its trademark primary colors and impasto textures, is strongly reflected in his work.
A large number of Polyakov’s paintings are dedicated to his home city of Nizhny Novgorod, including the evocative urban landscape in this collection.
