Bird Figures

Typical of Tezhik's work as a theatrical designer, these quick sketches resemble costume designs for the stage, or masked figures from commedia dell'arte. The English poet Ted Hughes described common thrushes as 'more coiled steel than living", and Tezhik aims for a similar effect. Despite their attractive plumage, we are reminded that these terrifying, almost mechanical creatures, are predators.
