Angel

The artist has produced many sculptures on this theme. However, this particular angel, fashioned from cypress and rootstock, has a special power. It's difficult to pinpoint how it affects the viewer, but one reason is surely the slight turn in the torso, matching the contoured patterns of the pale cypress sapwood. The figure has a poised elegance that absolutely convinces us of its inner life.
